About the Wheel of Consent®
The Wheel of Consent®, developed by Dr. Betty Martin, is a transformational framework and embodiment practice that has reshaped how we understand consent, relational dynamics, boundaries, desire, and empowered choice. It is used globally in schools, universities, therapeutic programs, somatic practices, and community organizations.
This practice invites you into a deeply embodied understanding of your own agency. It supports clearer communication, healthier relational dynamics, and an increased capacity for intimacy — with yourself and others. Its impact is personal, professional, and systemic, touching touch dynamics, relationships, caregiving, sexuality, and broader conversations around power, safety, equity, and justice.
The practice is simple. The learning is nuanced. The impact is profound.
What You Will Learn and Practice
Across these two days, we will offer guided experiential practices, partner and group exercises, reflection, and gentle facilitation. You will develop embodied skills that support consent in all areas of your life:
- Cultivate a felt sense of safety in your body and nervous system
- Connect with what genuinely feels good, nourishing, and joyful
- Notice, Value and Voice what you want, what you’re willing for, and what you’re not available for
- Recognize habitual patterns of going along and learn to interrupt them
- Recognize when others may be going along and honor their limits
- Explore the four quadrants of the Wheel — two ways to give, two ways to receive — and discover the distinct gifts of each
- Navigate power, trauma, and systemic oppression and their impact on our capacity to access choice and uphold boundaries (yours & others)
- Skillfully express desires, limits, preferences, and choices with nuance
- Learn to communicate with clarity, integrity, and relational presence
- Strengthen self-trust while deepening connection with others
When integrated, this work naturally creates relationships grounded in clarity, ease, respect, and mutual understanding.
Why This Work Matters

Personally, the Wheel expands your self-awareness, your sense of choice, and your ability to experience intimacy, pleasure, and connection in ways that feel safe, nourishing, and true.
