How to use a dildo

 Clean your dildo! Follow the manufacturers’ instructions. Many glass dildos, stainless steel dildos, and silicone dildos can be boiled. Others can be cleaned with soap and water or a sex toy cleaner. 

  1. If you desire, run some warm water over the dildo before using it. The warmth can feel nice against your skin. But, again, check the manufacturers’ instructions. 

  2. Lube it up! Using a lubricant will help decrease uncomfortable friction between your skin and the toy. Check out our guide to choosing the right lube here! 

  3. Build arousal with foreplay! Start slow and explore the sensation of the toy on your or your partners’ skin, like the inner thigh, clitoris, labia. Use the tip of the lubricated dildo to lightly stroke the vaginal opening or anus before penetration. If you are exploring with a partner(s) using consider instructing them on what feels best or even give them a sexy show by using the dildo in front of them.

  4. If penetration is desired, go slow especially using larger toys. But, again, listen to your body and go with what feels good.
